Meet the Supplier – The Event Florist

Today I have been chatting with a supplier and decided to share her story with you.  Rosemary has a true passion for floristry and has worked in the industry for 30 years.  See Rosemary Crook’s story below:

Name: Rosemary Crook

Business: The Event Florist

With a huge sigh of relief I left school in 1980.  I was keen to start work, so I took the first job I was offered.  At the time, it was James Naylor, manufacturing Oasis wreath bases for the floristry industry. During my time there I saw many beautiful floral tributes made by the owner’s daughter, a trained florist.  These beautiful tributes were used to promote the company at exhibitions and trade shows.  The beautiful designs had impressed me and decided this was something I would like to do.  This gave me the confidence to give up the factory work,  and I enrolled on a 3 year City and Guilds floristry course at Redditch College, under the tuition of a fantastic teacher Mrs Pat Robinson.  It didn’t take long to realised that floristry looked easier than it actually was!

I became a full time member of the team at Elizabeth Anne’s Florist, at times it was very hard work but we did have a lot of fun too.  I remained there until the shop closed.  Floristry has always been a big part of my life.  I have continued to do weddings and funerals for family and friends,  decorated our local church and entered flower shows.  Earlier this year I had the opportunity to do several weddings for a local event planner.  It has brought my skills up to date and in line with current trends, using stunning flowers like hydrangeas and peonies.  This has rekindled the interest I had and the sudden realisation that I was finally ready to go it alone!  So here I am The Event Florist.

Since qualifying, I have been privileged to do the flowers for many occasions.  These include:

  • marriages
  • births
  • deaths
  • events of all kinds

One I particularly remember was a wedding exhibition.  I presented Mavis, from Coronation Street, with a bouquet of flowers and I was really nervous!

I am a sole trader working from home, I do not keep flowers in stock all the time.  As the name suggests I buy my flowers and foliage fresh specifically for each event.  I select only the finest materials from my suppliers.  The quality and standard of my work is not compromised and my prices are competitive.  I am happy to take the time to discuss your requirements as  I understand that your wedding day is one of the most important days of your life and I would like to help you make it something special. I currently have an amazing special offer on a wedding flower package, well worth checking out, alternatively choose items that suit your individual requirements.
